A Workshop on Weather for Ocean Paddlers
What makes a thunderstorm happen? Where can I find the marine weather forecast? How fast is the wind blowing when I see whitecaps? What do those crazy clouds mean? Where did that fog come from? How can I stay safe during lightning? How can I apply weather forecasts and observations to my sea kayak trip planning?
This fun class will provide answers to these questions and many others. You’ll learn all about weather over the water through discussion, activities and real-time observations. Our seaside land based session is great for boaters of all kinds, as well as for anyone who has ever wondered about the hows, whys, wheres, and whens of weather!
Weather for Sea Kayakers meets at Portland Paddle’s main site at East End Beach during the summer and at Nanuq Kayak in downtown Portland during the winter.
